Silver 925 Valknut Triquetra Viking Axe Pendant
This axe pendant is made from Sterling Silver (925) and measures 35mm x 27mm. It comes on a leather necklace cord.
The axe is probably the most characteristic weapon of the Vikings and was more than just a weapon they played an important role in Viking culture as symbols of status.
The three interlocking triangles are called the Valknut, The Knot of the Fallen, a sacred symbol to Odin, King of the Nordic Gods. It was self carved into the breasts of wounded Viking Warriors so their souls would be carried by the Valkyries to Valhalla. However one would be mistaken to associate this symbol solely with the bloody battlefield. Life is also a battlefield of the soul and to triumph one has to overcome the forces of darkness allowing the spirit to shine.
