Viking Nidhogg Dragon Hairpin Hair Accessory
This Hairpin is made from pewter and measures approx. 4 x 6cm.
According to the Voluspa, Nidhogg is a dragon that lives under the roots of Yggdrasil and eats the corpses of the dead. The roots of Yggdrasil lie in Niflheim, the world of the dead. Nidhogg has commonly been presented in modern fiction as a servant of Hel (the goddess of the underworld). While a generally dark figure, Nidhogg remains relatively harmless (or at least stationary) until Ragnarok begins, the final battle. Nidhogg can represent endings and change, hope and new beginnings.
